Description

Proceedings now available as an online course!

On March 9-11, 2021 (Tuesday through Thursday), we held our first Animal Assisted Play Therapy® conference! It featured 12 presentations which are now available, collectively, as a self-paced online course. Continuing education credits are available. The full schedule and many more details are in this flyer.

Our keynote presenter was the wonderful Marina Gates Fleming of Belgium. All other workshop presenters are Certified Therapists, Supervisors, and Instructors in AAPT who shared their experiences and approaches using AAPT with a variety of species and client goal areas. Presenters in this conference were from Canada, the UK, and the USA.

TOPICS (presenters):
What is AAPT? and The Goodness of Fit Concept in AAPT (Risë VanFleet)
A Conversation with the Co-Founders of AAPT (Risë VanFleet and Tracie Faa-Thompson)
The Power of Meow! (Jacque George)
A Doggone Good Time (Cyndie Kieffer)
Keynote: Ethics and Our Dogs in Everyday Life (Marina Gates Fleming)

Equine Assisted Play Therapy® with Families (Tracie Faa-Thompson)

Presentations are recorded and the course includes all of them, followed by the usual continuing education assessment.

AAPT emphasizes relationships and animal well-being throughout the therapy process. The workshops are designed to show AAPT in action. Most feature a presentation and videos.

The evaluations of the conference from those attending in March were overwhelmingly positive, with 98% rating it as Excellent or Very Good. One of the most frequent comments was about the variety of topics and how each one added new information.

An outline of the schedule with workshop titles and presenters is in the flyer, followed by more detailed information about each. If you need continuing education credits, please be sure to read our CE statement. CE is available only for those who register for it, complete an assessment, submit a satisfaction survey, and listen/watch the full conference. Learning objectives are listed at the end.
