Val Miraglia (USA – AK)

Val Miraglia, LPA, RPT-S, LPC-Supv, CAAPT-S, CertAutPlay, has been doing play therapy for 30 years in Anchorage, AK.  She worked for Southcentral Foundation for 6 years running a program for Alaska Native girls who were sexually abused.  Then she opened a private practice, while doing contract work for Cook Inlet Tribal Council and many agencies that provide wrap around services for children, and as a child specialist consultant in Collaborative Law Practice cases.  She provided clinical supervision for Alaska CARES Child Advocacy Center, and group supervision for many years.  Currently she retired from providing therapy but continues as a supervisor for RPT candidates, therapists seeking licensure in Alaska, and Filial Therapy and Animal Assisted Play Therapy™.  She provided training in many different aspects of therapy, including Filial Therapy, over the years.  She has an extensive history of providing Filial Therapy to families in Alaska.

Val received a State of Alaska award as nominee for the 1996 Carolyn Frichette Memorial Award by the Alaska Children and Youth Mental Health Task Force for her work with severely emotionally disturbed children.  She also received the “Light of Hope Award” in April of 2003 “For outstanding efforts on behalf of Alaska’s Children” for her work as a therapist and advocating for the best interests of children. She is a Licensed Psychological Associate for the State of Alaska, a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor, a Certified Filial Therapy Supervisor and Instructor, a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, an Animal Assisted Play Therapist and Supervisor, and a Certified AutPlay Therapist.
